The electronic component responsible for controlling a drone or model aircraft based on inputs from the receiver and outside forces acting upon the drone or model aircraft.

Flight controllers are usually single-board devices that always have some sort of computer to process sensor data and make commands to the motors/actuators.

In some cases where volume and mass are of critical importance, such as on mini-quads, the flight controller may be combined onto one board with other discrete components such as ESCs, a PDB, RC RX, analog FPV OSD, etc. These flight controllers are sometimes referred to as all-in-ones (or AIOs).
