I have a Runcam 4 and a A198 FPV camera. I am actually using them to install in a model railroad. How do I determine the amps or watts that the camera requires? I assume that most of the drone power draw is the motors and very little for the camera? I would like to run the off a chip that has a limit. I would like to figure for 12 and 18 volts. Any help?

    $\begingroup$ Could you be more specific? Unless I'm searching incorrectly, I can't find a reference to the "Runcam 4" SKU you mention or an "A198" camera. Maybe add links to a spec sheet or product listing for each? $\endgroup$

  • $\begingroup$ It's hard to get definitive design specs for a lot of hobbyist RC products, so your best option may be to measure the units you have. Here's a page showing how to use a multimeter to measure amperage. $\endgroup$ Dec 26 '21 at 23:16
  • $\begingroup$ The closest reference I can find is a runcam split 4 - I have the hybrid and it's specced to draw up to an amp. Basic mini cameras will draw much less. Which are you going for? I can happily measure the current of a caddx/foxeer (I rarely use runcam) for you $\endgroup$ Dec 30 '21 at 13:05
